Estonian University of Life Sciences Hosted the International Charity Event "Vets with Horsepower"

Vets with Horsepowerlink opens in new page is a unique international initiative that combines continuing professional development in veterinary medicine with charitable fundraising. Travelling across Europe by motorcycle, equine veterinarians organise educational events along their route, sharing the latest knowledge in equine medicine while raising funds for charity projects around the world.

The training sessions in Tartu were delivered by internationally renowned experts in equine medicine: Professor Derek Knottenbelt, Dr Caroline Hahn, Professor Josh Slater, Dr Sanne Wilmink, Dr Jenny Croft, Dr Jessica Kidd, Professor Davide Zani, and Professor Gunther van Loon. Their participation provided veterinarians and veterinary students in Estonia with an excellent opportunity to expand their knowledge and exchange ideas with some of the world's leading specialists in the field.

The event also had a strong charitable purpose. All proceeds from the registration fees were donated to support charitable initiatives, including projects assisting children and veterinarians in Ukraine, the treatment and conservation of African wildlife affected by poaching, the welfare of working horses and donkeys in The Gambia, and educational opportunities for children in Malawi.

The event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Egne Kahro and Maria Kivastik from the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, in collaboration with the Vets with Horsepower team, sponsors, and partners.
