Kreutzwaldi 56 – Centre for Food Science and Food Safety
Blocks 3 and 5 of the building at Kreutzwaldi 56 house the Food Science and Food Safety Unit of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences. This modern teaching and research environment focuses on studying food quality, safety, and processing. Both students and researchers have access to extensive facilities for practical and applied work.
The blocks include:
- Laboratories for food hygiene and food technology
- Microbiology, sensory analysis, and analytical chemistry laboratories
- Workspaces for food quality assessment and shelf-life studies
- Classrooms and seminar rooms
Research areas cover the entire food chain “from farm to fork,” including the quality of both animal- and plant-based foods, foodborne pathogens, preservation technologies, and consumer safety. Kreutzwaldi 56 serves as an important centre of excellence for the development of food science in Estonia and internationally.
