Professor Federico Fracassi from the University of Bologna Delivers a Guest Lecture to Veterinary Students

02.11.2026

On 30 October, Professor Federico Fracassi from the University of Bologna, a renowned specialist in small animal endocrinology, delivered a guest lecture to third-year veterinary medicine students at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. The lecture focused on hypothyroidism and hypercortisolism.

The lecture addressed two important endocrine disorders: hypothyroidism, a condition characterised by an underactive thyroid gland, and hypercortisolism, a condition associated with excessive cortisol production. Both disorders are clinically significant in small animal veterinary practice, and their diagnosis and treatment require extensive specialist knowledge.

Federico Fracassi is a professor at the University of Bologna whose primary area of expertise is small animal endocrinology. He is the author of several specialised books in the field and is actively involved in research and teaching related to endocrine disorders.

The guest lecture provided students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge under the guidance of an internationally recognised expert and gain insights into the clinical management of endocrine disorders in small animals.

Professor Fracassi's visit was initiated by Liisa Siimon, a Junior Research Fellow at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences of the Estonian University of Life Sciences.
