Veterinary Externship at Grosbois Equine Clinic: Gaining Insight into Advanced Equine Practice in France

Grosbois Equine Clinic operates with a large team of specialists from different fields and manages a consistently high caseload, creating a dynamic and demanding clinical environment. During her stay, Monika observed a wide range of surgical procedures, including complex orthopaedic cases, alongside daily medical and diagnostic work.

In addition to observation, she actively participated in routine treatments and clinical procedures, becoming fully integrated into the clinic’s daily operations while further developing her practical skills. A particularly valuable aspect of the externship was the opportunity to assist with and practise equine anaesthesia. This hands-on experience contributed significantly to her confidence and competence in perioperative and postoperative patient management.

The externship also exposed Monika to a broad variety of clinical cases. Observing different diagnostic and treatment approaches broadened her clinical perspective and provided insights that may be adapted and applied at the Equine Clinic of the Estonian University of Life Sciences.

Overall, the externship at Grosbois Equine Clinic was an intensive and rewarding learning experience.
